If you made it to our website, you may have noticed that A Grade Ahead offers Educational Enrichment Camps (or maybe you didn’t notice but are now very intrigued)! We offer various educational summer camps because of the clear benefits that they have on children’s academic achievement. Before you sign up, you may be wondering, what exactly are educational enrichment summer camps?
Are Educational Enrichment Camps a Worthwhile Experience?
Educational Enrichment Camps are week-long programs that take place over the summer months. They have all the fun of summer camps and all the learning of educational enrichment! Their main focus is to keep your child learning while school is out, while also keeping the material entertaining and exciting!
Studies have shown that summer months are when the biggest gaps form between high and low achieving students, and the reason is that low achievers are not learning, and may even be forgetting previously learned material. For more information about this, check out another one of our blog posts!
Also, camps are taught by trained teachers and are capped to small class sizes, so enrolled students are given plenty of attention and chances to participate in the day’s stimulating activities. You may also be wooed by the fact that these camps include different curriculum than your child’s regular year-long studies, so they are guaranteed to gain something new from the experience.
A Grade Ahead holds its own Educational Enrichment Camps to combat this lack of learning since we believe that all of our students have the potential to achieve academic success. This year, camps are being offered in both Math and Science subjects and are designed for students in 1st through 6th grades. All camps are held at both the Wellington School in Columbus, Ohio, and at the Columbus Academy. (Note: If you are outside of the Columbus area, be sure to keep checking in with your local academy to see if enrichment camps are being offered this summer!)
Educational Enrichment Camps that A Grade Ahead offers in Summer 2020:
MathVenture Jr (rising 1st to 3rd graders)
Help Matt the Magician become a mathematician! Students apply their math skills, and learn some new ones, to assist Matt as he journeys around Math Island. But, alas, no journey is complete without obstacles! These obstacles require students to apply their learning in fractions, time, money, graph, measurement, and so much more. Is your student ready to become a mathematician?
MathVenture (rising 3rd to 5th graders)
Matt the Magician successfully completed his journey to become a mathematician. Now, he is ready for the next challenge—to compete at the annual math competition. Rising 3rd to 5th graders are challenged as they compete individually and in groups to apply their mathematical skills. Students see a variety of topics throughout the week including PEMDAS, decimals, fractions, 3D shapes, metric system, and much more. Is your student ready to win the competition?
A Grade Ahead’s Robotics Adventure: Race to the End (rising 4th to 6th graders)
Robotics can be fun and educational! Our half-day camp introduces students to the fundamentals of robot building through hands-on participation. Over the course of the sessions, students learn the components of programming and the rules of robotic motion. Then, they build robots and map their routes. Students gain skills of teamwork and cooperation through creation. Finally, students put the robots to the test with a race! Students love the anticipation of seeing which robot can follow its path the best and reach the finish line first. Is your student ready for a robotics adventure?

Eco-Explorers (rising 3rd to 5th graders)
Hop in our Jeep or submarine and explore with us! Students examine different ecosystems and how animals behave and interact with one another. Through project-based learning and activities, our student-centered curriculum makes biology fun and understandable.
As you can see, there are many opportunities for your children to stay enriched and involved in their education even when the schools close down for the summer. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Check out all of the information that shows how year-round educational enrichment programs are proven to put your kid ahead of the class at the start of each new school year. If you’re more than 10 miles away from an A Grade Ahead academy, you can always sign up for Enrichment at Home! This program allows students to reap enrichment rewards with convenient, mailed material.
We want to know: what is holding you back from signing up for enrichment camps? What questions do you still have?
