The Twelve Jokes of Christmas: Funny Things Students Say When Break Nears

The Twelve Jokes of Christmas: Funny Things Students Say kid in santa hatI think (I hope?) a lot of you are probably with me when I say, “Give me a break!” This time of year, with our students and children focused on almost anything besides school and assignments, it is easy to want to throw up our hands and say, “forget it!” But if we did that, we might miss out on some pretty funny stuff in the classrooms. It seems that students can turn into quite the comedians as they begin itching for break to begin. Here to see you through the next few days before what is hopefully going to be a long, fun, and relaxing break for you and your families, I present to you, “The Twelve Jokes of Christmas,” otherwise known as a few funny things A Grade Ahead teachers have caught their students saying or doing on those long, long days leading up to break.

“The Twelve Jokes of Christmas” – Funny Things Students Say or Do Before Break

 1. On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

flattery: “a student dressed up as me for Halloween.”

2. On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

wiggling: “The kids I’ve seen couldn’t sit in their seats for two seconds without wiggling or standing up, kind of absentmindedly.”

3. On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

this question: “Were you alive for Paul Revere’s ride?”

4. On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

and this nutty one: “What’s a peanut gallery?”

5. On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

and this…existential one? “What if there’s a parallel universe where you can take negative 3 rides?”

6. On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

this comment: “I’m going on vacation for Christmas” (as though they’re taking themselves away from the toils of all the hard work they’ve done!)

7. On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

and this minty fresh one: “She was mint green with envy.”

8. On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

and this very forgetful one: “I don’t know anyone’s names. From now on, you’re Random Girl #1,    you’re Random Girl #2, you’re Random Girl #3, and you’re Girl Who Likes Anime.”

9. On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

confusion: “I don’t speak tennis.”

10. On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

more where that came from! “What’s a gutter?”

11. On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

utter despair: “Disney is ruining Star Wars!”

12. On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

something pretty gross, actually: “more chewed up erasers than I can count!”

Well, there you have it. Hopefully you are smiling by now, or at the very least have just enough strength to get to that final bell.
