At A Grade Ahead, winter is definitely in the air! While our programs run year-round, we know that this time of year can be a time of great excitement, with holiday celebrations in full swing for many. With cold temperatures and snowy conditions, it can be a great time to think of ways to keep your child engaged with indoor activities. In the spirit of the season, why not try one (or more) of these writing prompts? Make it a family affair and share your responses with each other when you are done.

- One snowy night, you wake up and see a glowing light outside of your window signaling to you. You decide to follow it. What happens next? Use your imagination!
- Write a poem about the best snow day ever. It can rhyme, but it doesn’t have to.

Writing Prompts for 13+
- Describe the perfect holiday or winter day. Think about it in detail from the moment you wake up to the time you go to bed. Try to make the reader feel immersed in the day as you experience it!
- Invent your own holiday celebrity (e.g. Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, etc.). Describe them, their universe, and a typical day in their life.
- Write a poem about winter. For an extra challenge, have the poem span the start of winter to the beginning of spring. How does the season change as it goes on?
A Grade Ahead does not forget about our older students, offering programs for those in 7th grade, 8th grade, and high school!
