A Grade Ahead Employee Spotlight: Teresa Jordan

A Grade Ahead Employee Spotlight Series Manager TeresaThis new installment of the A Grade Ahead’s Employee Spotlight Series is an introduction to our very own Central Ohio Academy Manager, Teresa Jordan. Teresa oversees all four of our central Ohio academies: Dublin, Gahanna, Polaris, and Powell. She has been with our company for eight years and in her current role for seven years. She has a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of Gloucestershire in England in History and Social Politics.

We asked Teresa a few questions about herself to get to know her better. We loved hearing Teresa’s answers, and we hope you enjoy them as well! Check out Teresa’s answers below.

Why did you choose your degree program?

I’ve always been fascinated in history and how seeing certain decisions and actions have affected the world. It’s important to learn from history and try to avoid making the same mistakes.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to practice yoga, cook, read, and travel in my spare time. I also like to hang out with my yellow Labrador, Ike.

What would you like to do most in the future?

I love to travel and would like to visit as many places as I can.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go? Why?

There are so many places I’d love to visit, but I’m hoping that I’ll get the chance to see Croatia soon, as the lakes and coastline look so beautiful.

What is your favorite part of working for A Grade Ahead?

I enjoy the interaction with the students and parents and seeing the kids grow up and improve their math and English skills. It’s great to hear success stories.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subjects were history and French. I grew up in the south of England and would visit France fairly often. Having the chance to communicate and translate for my family during those trips was exciting to me.

What is one teacher or educational experience that changed your life?

My favorite teacher in high school was my math teacher, Mr. Bengey. He was so enthusiastic about his subject and made it fun to attend his classes. His attitude and approach to teaching helped me excel and get great grades.

What is the best advice for students who want to excel in school?

Talk to someone about what classes you enjoy and how to translate your studies into best achieving your dreams and goals.

What historical figure do you think is a good role model for kids? Why?

Malala Yousafzai because she’s brave, stands up for what she believes in, and believes strongly in peace and non-violence.

What is your favorite educational or motivational quote?

“Never be ashamed! There’s some who will hold it against you, but they are not worth bothering with.” – J. K. Rowling

If your dreams are big, people will mock you for them. Forget those people; they will not help you succeed.

Teresa is an asset to our company, and we are so happy to be able to feature her in this installment of the A Grade Ahead’s Employee Spotlight Series. Do you have any more questions for Teresa? What do you think of her answers? Let us know in the comments below!
